Welcome to Wildcat English!  This is a blog for all English department members to discuss, among other things, the positive things that are going on in their classrooms.  Hopefully, we will all learn a little about what is happening on our own campus and others.  Feel free to post teaching ideas, ask questions, convey information, and much more.

    Thank you for setting up this blog, Claire.

    This coming Monday I'll be starting Beowulf with my senior classes. We'll cover historical and cultural background, language and style, characteristics of an epic poem and an epic hero, analysis of different Beowulf translations, Grendel's point of view, in-text vocabulary, etc.

    Let me know if you have any ideas on what else I can include.

    Claire -- you are fast! This looks great!

    As you know, I am currently teaching The Crucible to my Junior classes. I plan to include some creative writing assignments with students attempting to capture the voice of the characters.

    Other ideas/suggestions are always welcome! :)
